About Bakeware... by the experts

Bakeware

There’s much more to bakeware then a piece of steel and a non-stick coating...so what should you be looking for in your bakeware?

We think every cook deserves bakeware that lasts for years not months, so we’re here to help you choose a bakeware range that’s right for you and your cooking style.

We know how keen cooks and passionate chefs love to perfect their recipes in their favourite tins and how disappointing it is when your favourite tin needs replacing and you just can’t find one like it! We’re here to give you helpful tips on how to look after your George Wilkinson roasters, trays and tins so they provide you service for many years.

And if they should eventually need replacing we have the most comprehensive selection of shapes and coatings for you to choose from...you wouldn’t expect anything less from the bakeware people.

Coatings

Coatings

Not every non-stick coating is the same and a good non-stick coating should;

  • Provide excellent release of food
  • Be easy to clean
  • Stain resistant
  • Durable
  • Have a long life

Does heavy gauge bakeware mean ‘professional’ and ‘better’ bakeware?

Heavy bakeware is more durable, however, this does not mean it provides better non-stick service. Our heavier gauge products have been manufactured to an ideal and functional weight. They are the right balance so they are not too heavy when full of food and most definitely not thin enough to warp.

Bakeware should be heavy enough to be durable but light enough to be safe to use and when food is placed inside.

With a content of over 60% recycled British steel we aim for greater sustainability along with added energy savings. Our manufacture process is 98% efficient as compared to 60% for its sprayed counterpart meaning far less wastage.

Sustainability is integral to everything we do in our manufacture process, from the moment we begin to coat the steel to the journey it makes to your ovens.

Insulated Bakeware

Insulated Bakeware

We are the original producers and innovators of Insulated bakeware. This meant the end of burning the bottom of cakes, loafs, cookies and pastries. Two sheets of steel encapsulate an air pocket, keeping the temperature even all over – meaning no more burnt or soggy spots. Our reinforced design prevents twisting or warping and our exclusive non-stick coating ensure easy release every time.

Our premium products outperform all other branded non-stick bakeware, even those with lifetime guarantees.

Our guarantees cover the non-stick coating and the product, we understand that if you buy a non-stick product you expect to benefit from the non-stick coating for the whole life of the product.

Caring for your bakeware

Following our simple care instructions will keep your bakeware looking like new for years to come.

Tins & Trays

  • Wash before first use.
  • Grease/oil lightly before each use.
  • Do not bake at more than the recommended gas mark for the material
  • Do not place product over direct heat, electric radiant elements or gas flame.
  • To clean, rinse in hot soapy water or place in a dishwasher.
  • If any burnt food is left on the tin, soak in hot soapy water for a few minutes before cleaning; do not use scourers or abrasives.
  • Metal tools should not be used as these may damage the non-sick coating. Do not cut or slice food in the tin.
  • Dry thoroughly with a cloth before storing.

Springform Cake Tin

  • Wash before first use.
  • Grease/oil lightly before each use.
  • Do not bake at more than the recommended gas mark for the range.
  • Do not place product over direct heat, electric radiant elements or gas flame.
  • To clean, rinse in hot soapy water. Due to the metal clip the Spring Form cake tins are not dishwasher safe.

All non-stick products are vulnerable to cuts and scratches, the use of metal utensils should be avoided. Food should not be cut or sliced in the tins and trays.

Please note dishwasher salts are aggressive and can reduce the life expectancy of products, therefore it is always better to handwash your bakeware.
